Passers-by push car off railway crossing
00:00, 19 February 2009
Quick-thinking passers-by saved a woman whose car had rolled onto railway tracks when she suffered a seizure.
They pushed the Peugeot clear and stayed with the woman until an ambulance arrived.
The incident happened at the Grove Ferry crossing on Monday morning.
The woman driver suffered a seizure and crashed into the crossing, leaving her car in the path of oncoming trains.
Police say several members of the public saw this and pushed the vehicle clear.
They then stayed with the woman, who is from Margate, and called an ambulance.
PC Ben Crook, who attended the scene, praised the actions of passers-by.
“Their actions have not only saved her life, but also potentially avoided a serious accident," he said.

“In our line of work, it is all too common to hear about the wrong-doing of others but this incident shows that people will not think twice about helping those in need.
“These good samaritans left the scene before the ambulance crew or police could congratulate them and we would like to know who they are.”
