Police arrest man amid fears of attempted abduction on Deal seafront
12:00, 28 June 2012
Police arrested a 30-year-old man from Bangladesh after a mother on Deal seafront was worried he was attempting to snatch her toddler.
Officers questioned him but decided he had not committed any offence, although he was handed to Immigration as it is believed he is in this country illegally.
Police spokesman Jon Green said the concerned mother was worried about the man as he approached her child, but added that there was no suggestion that he had tried to grab the toddler.
The incident happened on Deal seafront yesterday, and the parent raised the alarm at a High Street store and the police were called.
Mr Green added: “If any parents are concerned it is always best to raise the alarm.”
