AN ELDERLY woman killed in a road accident at Dymchurch at the weekend has been named as Gwen Addy who had lived at Marine Avenue, Dymchurch, for the past 30 years. Her 11-year-old King Charles Spaniel, Tia, also died.
Mrs Addy and her dog were struck by a red Toyota MR2. The vehicle collided with a grey Ford Ranger pick-up truck travelling in the opposite direction on the A259 between Dymchurch and Hythe after allegedly overtaking another vehicle. It then mounted the pavement and hit Mrs Addy and Tia close to the junction of Marine Avenue.
Mrs Addy's husband, Dennis, said: "Gwen was such an animal lover. She hated to see any animal suffer. In a way I am glad they went together because she loved her so much."
The driver of the Toyota, a 24-year-old man from Greatstone, New Romney, has been bailed by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
