Porn DVDs and films found in police swoop
00:00, 16 February 2007
AN ILLEGAL stash of thousands of porn DVDs and films not yet released in UK cinemas has been uncovered at a house in Thamesmead.
Police officers and copyright investigators found the haul in a dawn raid in New Acre last Wednesday after a tip off from a member of the public.
Five men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of breaking copyright and trademark laws in the Thamesmead Moorings Safer Neighbourhoods Team operation.
Sgt Noel Carmody said: "This case is a perfect example of how Safer Neighbourhoods Teams and the local community can work together to clamp down on crime affecting areas local to them.”
Boxes of tobacco thought to be imported from China were also found. The suspects have been released on police bail.
