A WOMAN motorist had to go round a roundabout twice when her daughter said she had seen a kangaroo.

In fact Maria Duggan's daughter Megan, 12, had seen what is believed to be Wesley, a wandering wallaby that went walkabout nearly four years ago.

Mrs Duggan, of Lucilla Avenue, Kingsnorth, near Ashford, had just taken her daughter and foster son, Ryan, eight, to the cinema at the Eureka Leisure Park on Tuesday. As they were leaving at about 2.30pm Megan noticed the creature hopping in the grass.

Mrs Duggan took another drive round the roundabout to get a closer look. She said: "My daughter saw him first and so we went back round and there he was sniffing and hopping around."

Wesley went missing in August, 2000, from Badgers Hill Farm, Charing Road, Chilham, near Canterbury, when he was just 18 months old.

The first Claire Squires and partner Bruce de Courcy knew that he had gone missing was when they received a call from the police.

There have been several sightings of the furry fellow since. The first was along the A28 at Boughton Aluph.

It is now almost four years later and Wesley has not been seen this far from home before.

Mrs Duggan said: "My daughter thought it was a baby kangaroo at first. I remember seeing in the paper that he had gone missing, but hadn't heard about it since and I explained to the children about him. He went off into the bushes and we watched him hop off."
