Stargazers in Kent are expected to turn out in force this evening and tomorrow morning as a meteor show lights up the sky.

Halley's Comet is due to strike Earth's atmosphere through tonight and the rest of the weekend at a speed of 148,000 mph.

At that speed the matter will burn up and cause light to flash. This is what creates the streaking image we can see with the naked eye on the ground.

The good news is most people who want to catch a glimpse of the Orionid meteor shower will be able to see the display.

All you have to do is make sure you're not going to watch it where there is light pollution.

One of the best things to do is make sure you're away from streetlights.

The best time to be looking for it will be at around 1.30am.

But if you miss it, you should be able to see it at some other points throughout the rest of the month as it's hanging around until the end of October.

Stargazers will have to pick their moments carefully though as there is a storm forecast for the weekend.
