This Staffordshire bull terrier puppy had to have emergency surgery after swallowing a plastic arrow that was almost the same length as her body.

Betty's owner, 38-year-old Emma Watson from Swanley, thinks the dog found the 10.5-inch arrow in her daughter's playhouse.

Vets were able to remove the arrow, which had lodged itself in Betty's intestine.

Emma said: "I'm amazed it was physically possible for her to swallow it.

"She doesn't appear to have learned her lesson because as soon she got home she tried to eat the TV remote control!"
