Barbie is releasing a doll of The Queen to mark the monarch's Platinum Jubilee.
In one of the more unusual birthday gifts Her Majesty is likely to have been given, the special limited edition release of the Queen Elizabeth II figure was unveiled today on her 96th birthday.
Fitted with an ivory gown and sparkling tiara, which is modelled on one belonging to Queen Mary which The Queen wore on her own wedding day, makers Mattel believe their latest creation is 'instantly recognisable'.
The new doll forms part of Barbie’s exclusive Tribute Collection, which was launched last year in celebration of “visionary individuals with an outstanding impact and legacy within society”.
The figure comes in a presentation box, reflective of the style of Buckingham Palace say its creators, with an inner panel that shows the royal's regal throne and the red carpet of the throne room inside her London home.
Inside, alongside the doll itself, is a certificate of authenticity to prove to owners that they indeed hold the real deal, which is sure to swiftly become a collectors item.
Senior Director of Barbie Design Robert Best explained: "The gown is not a copy of any one dress she wears, but rather a gown inspired by the style and colour of gown that she's favoured in royal portraits of herself for the past several years.
"If you look at those portraits or how she dresses for important events, she very much has a signature style and look – always a very simple design in white or ivory, which makes sense given that she must then wear all the accompanying jewellery and sash as befits her rank."
According to Mattel's American Community Creations website, where its latest products can be pre-ordered or snapped up if already on sale, the doll is available for $75, which is around £57.
Here purchases are strictly limited to three per customer, with the precious packages promised to be delivered on or before May 27 which would be just in time for The Queen's official Jubilee celebrations at the start of June.
While in the UK the doll is expected to be sold in Harrods, Hamley’s, Selfridges, John Lewis and also via Amazon.
