Reconstruction may help catch evil rapists

DETECTIVES will tomorrow stage a reconstruction of the journey a young mother took from Chatham town centre before being brutally raped by two thugs. The 22-year-old mother-of-three was dragged into garages in Hare Street, near the Luton Arches and attacked as she walked home last Wednesday.
Det Sgt Dave West, leading the hunt, today made a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward. The woman was initially followed by a gang of six men before four of them walked off and left her in the hands of her attackers.
Det Sgt West said: "Somebody must know who these men are. This was a particularly despicable offence on a defenceless woman. We believe the men are local and spoke with local accents. We would urge anyone with information to contact the police."
The first attacker was white, in his early 20s, 6ft with brown spiky hair. He had a long face and a scar on his right cheek. He was wearing jeans and white trainers.
The second man was white in his early 20s, 5ft 6in and chubby. He wore a padded jacket, Reebok training bottoms and had a pierced right ear.
Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt West on 01634 884071 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Calls will be treated in confidence.
