This is the biggest freshwater fish ever caught in the UK - and it was reeled in by a Kent angler.

The 150cm-long carp was netted at Conningbrook Lake, Willesborough, near Ashford by John Bird after eight years of trying.

The 26-year-old has been attempting to catch Two Tone, as the giant fish is known, since he was a teenager. He said: "I'm overwhelmed, made up beyond belief."

The huge carp, as long as an adult is tall, and weighing in at 67lb, the weight of a child, was released back into the lake after being photographed.
