Restrictions imposed on quarry lorries
00:00, 02 August 2002
RUSH-HOUR limits have been imposed on the number of lorries going in and out of a quarry at Offham, near West Malling, to ease congestion on nearby roads.
Kent County Council has ruled that a total of 86 HGVs - 43 in and out - can use Blaise Farm Quarry in the weekday rush hours - 8am to 9am and 5pm to 6pm.
It is hoped this will stop traffic building up at busy junctions in Mereworth, West Malling and Leybourne during the busiest hours of the day.
