Chatham Town suffered a 6-1 drubbing at home to promotion-chasing Whitehawk in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday.
Brad Potter headed them infront inside two minutes but the visitors ran riot with three goals either side of half-time.
The defeat left the Chats just a point clear of the drop-zone, with second-bottom Corinthian Casuals a point behind with a game in hand and a better goal difference.
Whitstable Town are only three points better off than Chatham after also being hit for six at home to leaders Met Police on Sunday.
An injury and unavailability-hit Town side were 2-0 down inside 10 minutes and 3-0 before the half-hour with a fourth arriving before half-time and the final two goals in the last 20 minutes.
Faversham Town's play-off hopes were hit by a goalless draw at Godalming on Saturday.
Town dropped to 11th following the stalemate and are nine points off the top-five pace, having played a game more than the teams they ae chasing.
Town were overhauled by Sittingbourne who went 10th after overcoming basement-boys Horsham YMCA 1-0 at Bourne Park.
Nick Reeves smashed a second-half penalty against the bar but Hicham Akhazzan slotted the only goal 19 minutes from time to seal the Brickies third win in four games and leave them eight points adrift of the play-off places.
Ramsgate are eighth and only five points outside the top five after grabbing a 2-1 win at Merstham.
Liam Quinn headed the Rams ahead inside three minutes and James Gregory doubled the lead before the break, with the hosts only finding a consolation in the final 10 minutes.
