Tonbridge Angels beat local rivals Maidstone United on Saturday to strengthen their play-off hopes in the Ryman League Premier Division.
The defeat for the Stones leaves them rock bottom of the table.
Striker Carl Rook (pictured), on loan from Blue Square Bet Dartford, scored the only goal of the game seven minutes before the interval.
Folkestone Invicta sit just two places and four points above Maidstone and they suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Hastings.
Hastings started the afternoon in relegation trouble themselves but left the Buzzlines Stadium with a crucial three points.
Darren Smith had levelled for Folkestone in the first half but the visitors struck twice in the second to claim the victory.
Margate won the mid-table battle against Carshalton on home soil.
Tom Bradbrook scored both Margate goals in a 2-1 win for Iain O’Connell’s team.
Cray Wanderers remain in the thick of the play-off chase in the Premier Division after Mark Willy’s goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win over Lowestoft.
