People in Kent are being warned against a new scam which targets people renewing their TV licence.
The consumer watchdog Which? is advising people to be careful if they are sent an email asking them to click on a link.
One whistleblower said they went to pay the bill and then received an email saying they were entitled to a rebate.
When they called the TV Licensing staff they confirmed it was a scam and that it had been reported by other customers.
A spokesman for Which? said: "Whenever you receive an email from a company, check whether the email address appears unusual.
"If you hover over the link and it directs to an unusual domain, that’s another tell-tale sign of a scam."
They also said you should not click on a link in an email which looks like its come from a suspicious sender.
