A number of schools are to remain closed for a second day today due to the ongoing wintry weather.

Snow and ice meant many educational establishments in Kent could not be safely opened to pupils who would otherwise have been expected to attend yesterday, and the continued chill means some remain shut this morning.

Vulnerable children and those whose parents are key workers have been able to remain in class while other pupils have been learning remotely during the latest lockdown.

The following secondary schools are closed to pupils today:

  • Cornwallis Academy, Maidstone
  • Maidstone Grammar School
  • New Line Learning Academy, Maidstone

Much of the county remains blanketed in snow and the cold snap looks set to continue this week.
