Sharks play dirty in Shipwrecked battle

Barrie 'Swampy’ Ridley beat 80,000 people to make it on to Channel 4’s hit show Shipwrecked as part of the Shark tribe. In this weekly column, the Queenborough man shares his experiences with EMMA GROVE
Sunday’s episode of Shipwrecked saw new arrivals Dale and Sarah having to pick which island they wanted to live on.
Although this is normally the highlight of the beach party, there were a few twists that put the focus on to Shark island.
Shipwreckers on Shark island had started to get a bit bored with island life and Faith had an idea to send a Shark onto Tiger island as a mole.
Anyone can nominate to the other island, and Shark Faith put herself forward to pretend to do this at the beach party – to get some inside information on Tiger island.
After the new arrivals had chosen to live on Shark island, and they had decided to make Sarah an official Shark, Faith announced she would like to nominate to Tigers.
The Tiger shock was clear to see, and the Shark acting faces were good enough that Tigers didn’t guess it was a set-up and they accepted Faith into their tribe.
Barrie said: “The game was getting boring so we thought we would spice it up a bit.
The Tigers had stolen our shower and won the new arrivals last week so we decided
to do it.
“There was always a bit of doubt in my mind that Faith might go and really enjoy it and not come back, it could’ve backfired. But she is a very loyal Shark and she does come back.”
Minutes after the Sharks 'lost’ Faith, they discovered they were to lose another Shark for three weeks – a punishment for Adam’s rule break.
The Tigers had to choose the unlucky Shark, and they were going to go for Lauren as she had hinted she might want to move because of her arguments with Tom, but luckily Faith was able to persuade them to pick Keris – who is a Shark through and through.
Barrie added: “It was a real shock when we discovered we were going to lose two people.
“When the Tigers picked Keris she was devastated and didn’t want to go – but we knew there was no way she would sway to the Tigers.”
New arrivals Brie and Jon arrived at the end of the episode and spend the first part of the week on Tiger island.
During this time, Shark Lauren leaves a note for the Tigers to show her loyalty to the Sharks.
But when the Tigers read it, the new arrivals are there and they form their own negative opinions about the Sharks.
Barrie tells us: “The note is a poem Lauren has written, basically rubbing the Tigers noses in it.
“So when Brie and Jon come over to Sharks, they don’t really like us at all and don’t give us much of a chance.”
At the beach party, the decision of which island they will chose comes down to the flip of a coin as both the new arrivals stand their ground.
Tigers win the coin toss and they pick Jon to stay.
A teaser Barrie gives us is that the next new arrivals are twin girls.
He reveals the Sharks have conversations discussing how they would choose between twins, but then the twins announce that if one of them has to leave, they will both go.
Barrie says this puts the crews in turmoil as no one has threatened that before.
Tune in next week to see what happens.
