Sevenoaks Vine still lead the Shepherd Neame Kent Cricket League Premier Division table after a rain-affected set of matches on Saturday.

In what was the first weekend of the top division's 'win/lose' format, with no draws possible in the second half of the season, Sevenoaks were at home to Bexley who made 240-6 declared from 42 overs after being asked to bat first. Former Kent spinner Min Patel led the way with 82 from 72 balls at the top of the order.

Opener Anthony Shales top scored for Sevenoaks with 52 while Ollie Howick was unbeaten on 47, with the home side on 175-3, when the rain came to produce an `incomplete' result.

The result leaves Bexley in joint second place with Hartley Country Club, 12 points behind the leaders. At Culvey Close, Hartley's batsmen stormed to 298-5 from their 45 overs against Blackheath. James Thompson made an unbeaten 95 and Charlie Hemphrey hit 63. Blackheath never looked likely to reach their target, despite a useful 48 by Jahid Ahmed, and finished on 188-9 to lose by 110 runs.

Bottom-of-the-table Canterbury looked set to record their second successive victory before a batting collapse handed visitors Bromley the full 18 points.

Invited to bat first, Bromley achieved a competitive total of 214-9 thanks mainly to Richard Clinton (38), Wayne Morgan (36) and Nick Bluett 31. Stuart Drakeley (4-33) was the pick of the Canterbury bowlers.

Canterbury openers Dominic Chambers (74) and James Lilley (51) then put on 132 for the first wicket, but after they departed on the same score Canterbury collapsed to 193 all out with Wayne Morgan taking 4-40 and Clinton 3-35.

The only other match to reach a conclusion took place at The Nevill where Tunbridge Wells beat Beckenham by four wickets. After a delayed start due to rain the game was reduced to the minimum of 20 overs a side. After being put in, the only Beckenham batsman to dominate the attack was Johan Malcolm with 58 from 41 balls as they reached 130-7. It wasn't enough, with Tom Elliot making an unbeaten 62 from 40 balls as Wells reached their target with an over to spare.

At Lordswood, there was only time for one innings before the rain arrived. Bickley Park asked their hosts to bat and they made 202-8 with Matt Greenwood hitting an unbeaten 52. Phil Browning took 4-55 but the weather then denied Bickley a chance to chase their target.
