Fabian Cowdrey’s impressive all-round display helped Sevenoaks Vine beat Lordswood by 78 runs and move into second place in the Shepherd Neame Kent League Premier Division.

Cowdrey hit 11 fours and three sixes in his 123 as Vine, put in by visiting captain Kevin Masters, totalled 270-9 in their 55 overs, with former Kent fast bowler Amjad Khan taking 4-56.

It proved too much for the Medway side, dismissed for only 192, with Cowdrey taking 3-22, and John Bowden 3-19.

Former county seamer Warren Lee took 6-35 for leaders Blackheath, but finished on the losing side as home side Bexley went third after a three-wicket success in a low-scoring game.

Jason Benn took 5-36 as the early season pacesetters made only 126, but Bexley didn’t find batting easy either, slipping to 98-7 at one stage, before Jack Wells (18 not out of 63 balls) and Maruf Chowdhury, with three fours in his 17 not out, won the game.

A third wicket stand of 122 between skipper Chris Isles and Raza Ali Dar eased Beckenham to a six-wicket win over struggling local rivals Bromley.

Ali Dar followed up a 4-33 return, with 10 fours and a six in his 69, while Isles scored nine boundaries in his 61 as they chased down 147 to win.

Nick Bluett (28 not out) and David Smith (28) had earlier top-scored for Bromley in their total of 146-7.

Bickley Park opener Ben Fulton hit as 76 they beat Canterbury by four wickets. Only 16 of them came in boundaries in a 114-ball knock, before Phil Browning made an important 34 off 28 balls with four fours and a six in a winning score of 187-6.

Matt Jenkinson (58) and vice-captain Luke Samarasinghe (37) were Canterbury’s major contributors in their total of 186-8 after being put in.
