Kent looks set to sizzle on Easter Monday, as the Met Office predicts it could be the hottest on record.

Thanks to some warm weather moving in from the continent, the UK has been basking in temperatures in the mid 20s so far this Bank Holiday weekend - a welcome change from the fog and frost of the rest of the month.

But the mercury is predicted to rise even higher tomorrow, possibly up to 25C in the South East, making the county hotter than the likes of Malaga on the Spanish Costa Del Sol, set to peak at 23C.

The previous UK Easter Monday record of 24C was set on the Solent in Hampshire in 2011.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Frank Saunders, said: "Temperatures will reach into the low 20s quite widely and there’s a good chance some places particularly in the south could see temperatures peaking around 24C to 25C.

"With temperatures usually around 12C to 15C at this time of year, it’s certainly going to be significantly warmer than average this Easter and quite a contrast to the colder weather we’ve seen so far this month.”

The warm weather has sent families flocking to the Kent seaside.

Yesterday Dreamland enjoyed its best opening weekend to date, with tens of thousands of visitors descending on the vintage amusement park.

But we better make the most of it - after tomorrow cloud will move in with temperatures easing back to normal, and even thundery showers expected by Thursday.
