A hot and sunny spell could soon turn Kent's grey weather into something more spring-like says the Met Office.
After a scorching Easter break, the start of May and it's bank holiday turned into a much colder affair for most with cloudy skies, cooler temperatures and some windy conditions on the coast.
But things could be about to take a turn for the better, say forecasters at the Met Office, with most of the country likely to see a return to more spring-like conditions in the coming days and weeks ahead.
While the south east may see some rain over Friday, which could at times be heavy, more settled weather is then expected to follow hopefully in time for the weekend.
The Met Office's forecast for England on Friday, Saturday and Sunday says temperatures will be warmer, particularly in the south, but there will be the ongoing risk of a shower or two.
But it is its weather predictions for the next 10 days which are guaranteed to lift the spirits - with long range forecasts pointing to the potential for a longer spell of considerably warmer weather if things go to plan.
There could be the need to have sun cream at the ready from early next week because weather watchers expect dry weather for most regions after Sunday, that will bring long lasting sunny spells and significantly hotter days and milder evenings.
While towns and cities in the north may see occasional showers and somewhat cooler temperatures in comparison - better weather is expected to arrive for most places from Sunday where the mercury in London and the Home Counties in particular, could hover around 20C for a number of days.
Temperatures, says the Met Office, could be set to continually rise above average over the next week to 10 days with forecasters saying early indications show it could be 'very warm' for next weekend'.
