Sunshine in Maidstone... hail storms in Canterbury - Kent's weird weather
16:00, 13 April 2016
Did you enjoy a drink in a pub garden this lunchtime, or where you sheltering in the office hoping the hail didn't dent your car?
Depending on where you are in Kent today, you may be experiencing some very diferent weather conditions.
In Maidstone and Medway, the sun tempted many out to the beer gardens this lunchtime, with the towns experiencing balmy temperatures (for the season at least) of up to 16c.
But Canterbury was not so lucky.
People took to twitter to comment on the crazy weather, with a hail storm hitting the city at about 3pm.
Short sharp bursts of thunder, lighting and heavy rain have also been clearing the city's streets, temporarily at least, interspersed with brief periods of bright sunshine.
The Met Office forecast confirms a mixed bag for the county today: "Broken cloud with scattered showers, perhaps heavy and thundery during the afternoon.
"Some pleasant sunny spells between showers."
And it looks like the weird weather may continue for the rest of the week. The forecast says: "Rain, occasionally heavy on Friday, with variable winds.
"Rain slowly clearing Saturday morning, with some sunny intervals later. Becoming colder. Dry, sunnier on Sunday, but cool with overnight frosts."
