Kent have pulled off a dramatic victory on the final day of their county championship division two match against Northamptonshire at Northampton.
The visitors began the day on 220 for 2 in their second innings and the game seemed to be heading for a draw but 93 from Geriant Jones and 100 not out from Martin van Jaarsveld put them in a strong position before lunch.
Skipper Rob Key declared on 302 for 5 to set Northants an unlikely 328 to win and his bowlers soon set about the home side's batting line-up.
Only former Kent wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien, who scored 41, impressed as five wickets from spinner James Tredwell plus contributions from Martin van Jaarsveld, Rob Ferley and Simon Cook skittled the hosts for just 90 to hand the division leaders a 238-run victory before 4pm on the final day.
Rob Key's side's chances of victory looked to have slipped away because of rain on Wednesday but the win keeps them in pole position at the top of division two.
