The future of Gillingham defender Simon King remains undecided

A decision on Simon King’s future at Gillingham has yet to be made.
The injury-plagued defender (pictured) confessed last week that he was already contemplating searching for a new club.
However, Gills boss Hessenthaler, who recommended King to the Gills in 2007 after playing alongside him at Barnet, has not discussed the future with the former player-of-the-year.
Hessenthaler said: "Simon has probably got his thoughts on things because he hasn’t been spoken to yet – but nobody has.
"We still have an opportunity to do something this year and once we know where we are at, we can sit down and look at the squad and those out of contract. Then we will make
decisions."
King, speaking to the Oxford Mail before last week’s encounter against his former club, said: "The last couple of years have been a complete nightmare but I’m happy with some of the performances I’ve put in this season.
"Fingers crossed I can find a club this summer and stay in the league for another couple of seasons.
"I’m going to be a bit of a gamble for someone but I feel I’ve shown I can still perform at this level."
