M20 shut London-bound between junction 9 for Ashford and 8 for Leeds Castle after motorbike crash

Part of the M20 was closed this afternoon - leaving motorists stuck in sweltering temperatures - following a motorbike crash.

There were almost three miles of queues on the London-bound stretch of the motorway between Junction 9 for Ashford and Junction 8 for Maidstone.

National Highways tweeted shortly after 2pm to say the M20 was blocked following a collision involving a motorbike. All traffic was held stationary while emergency services attended.

Shortly before 2.30pm, an update was shared to say traffic had been released following the collision.

One lane remains closed and there is almost three miles of congestion on the approach to the crash scene.

"Please allow an extra 25 to 30 minutes on to your current journey time," National Highways said.

It is not yet known if there have been any injuries.
