Met Office issues yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Kent
12:36, 05 July 2018
Met Office experts have issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across Kent.
Heavy storms are likely to batter the county this afternoon, with up to 30mm of rain possible in just one hour.
While some parts of Kent will see little rain, torrential showers, hail and lightning are all possible.
The warning will remain in place between 12pm and 7pm, as spray and sudden flooding could lead to travel disruption.
There is also a small chance that businesses and homes could be flooded, with power cuts possible.
The warning will cover east and west Kent, alongside Medway, but Dartford and Gravesham are not affected.
