Dartford enhanced their Blue Square Bet South promotion credentials with a gritty 1-0 win at Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.
The hosts were bolstered by new signing Olly Schulz at the back, with Jon Heath making way, at a blustery Longmead and prolific striker Franny Collin went closest to the opening goal with a trademark free-kick which went narrowly over.
At the other end Jacob Erskine saw a shot on the turn flash wide of Lee Worgan's goal before Tony Burman's (pictured) side took the lead when a corner from Jon Wallis was powerfully met by the head of the unmarked Tom Champion on 19 minutes.
Goalmouth action to entertain a crowd of more than 1,100 was in short supply for the remainder of the half, though moments after the interval Erskine sent another opportunity narrowly wide.
Louis Wells kept Angels midfielder Chris Piper out at the other end following a neat move involving Mikel Suarez and Collin and a Sonny Miles header across the face of goal from a Rory Hill corner caused a melee which the visitors eventually cleared.
Schulz lashed a chance wide before Wallis superbly sent Danny Harris clean through on 65 minutes, only for Worgan to deny him, and the Angels defence to block the follow-up efforts.
Wells was forced off with injury after a series of aerial challenges with Deren Ibrahim replacing him, and soon after he kept the hosts out, while Angels brought Jon Main off the bench but the striker suffered another injury just 10 minutes after coming-on.
The win took Dartford within six points of leaders Woking, having played a game fewer than the Cards, and are 16 points ahead of the play-off chasing pack.
Woking missed a first-half penalty with the score at 0-0 at home against Maidenhead and struck the post after the break before two quickfire goals from Maidenhead secured the points.
Tonbridge slipped to 13th.
