Tourism boost for Medway visitor centre
00:00, 28 September 2007
Medway Visitor Information Centre in Rochester has been declared one of the best in England.
Medway is just one of four in Kent to be named as official Enjoy England Partners.
The scheme by VisitBritain is part of a campaign to provide outstanding service to customers, so that they have fantastic experiences as visitors.
It also recognises the expertise, knowledge and professional skills of the staff involved.
Enjoy England Partners will benefit from taking part in national and international marketing and involvement in a new specialist training programme.
To become a partner Medway had to meet extensive quality and performance standards set by VisitBritain and regional tourist board Tourism South East.
Medway Council's Portfolio Holder for Strategic Development and Economic Growth Cllr Jane Chitty said: "This is a great compliment to the service provided by our visitor information centre.
"In Medway, we pride ourselves on the warm welcome and excellent service we give and to receive this accolade is testament to the hard work of everyone involved."
