00:00, 21 December 2001
TWO men appeared before Thanet magistrates today charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to rob. Shane Edward Jarvis, 30, of Bristol Road, Gravesend, and Patrick Connor, 47, of Tennyson Walk, Northfleet, are alleged to have been members of a gang who broke into the flat above Victoria Road Post Office, Margate, last Thursday and abducted a man living there.
It is alleged the man was driven away and held for 12 hours. About £64,000 was stolen from the Post Office. It is alleged a second person was also tied up and held at the flat.
Both Mr Jarvis and Mr Connor were remanded in custody. The case will be heard at the Crown Court.
