Driver arrested after vehicle driven the wrong way on the A2

A driver has been arrested after a vehicle was spotted travelling in the wrong direction on the A2.
Witnesses said he nearly crashed into another vehicle that was heading towards Greenhithe.
It happened shortly after 1am and police confirmed the driver was stopped on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 near junction 2.
A spokesman said: "Officers stopped a vehicle that had been travelling in the wrong direction.
"A man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen."
