Vet called out to abandoned horse
13:31, 24 April 2008
POLICE were called out to an emaciated horse left abandoned in a Bethersden road early this morning (Thursday).
According to police, they were called at 7.35am after a passer-by retrieved the malnourished horse from Bull Lane and led it into a nearby field.
PC Annie Williams, who attended the scene and was soon joined by RSPCA inspector Kelli Ellison, said: “The young filly was reluctantly grazing when I arrived and then collapsed, though she managed to get up again.”
Inspector Ellison said: “This horse is severely emaciated and has bad diarrhoea.
“We are waiting for the vet and it depends on what he says.
“We don’t have an owner for it and we will have to remove it to a safe location.”
Anyone with information can contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
