Video: Tardis materialises at Dockyard
13:58, 30 January 2008
DOCTOR Who fans can get up close and personal with an original police box identical to the famous Tardis used in the hit show, when it goes on display in Chatham Dockyard.
The blue concrete box which was a familiar sight across the country before they were phased out in the late 1960s, has been loaned from its original home in Glasgow to the Kent Police Museum following a request from curator John Endicott.
The boxes once gave officers a place to make and receive calls, hold those arrested and even administer first aid.
The fully refurbished box will go on public display when the museum reopens its doors to the public on Sunday, February 10.
