Forecasters say Kent could be hit by heavy rain over the next two days which may lead to localised flooding.

The Met Office has issued a yellow 'be aware' alert for the north and west of the county until 9pm tonight.

Recent warm temperatures could trigger scattered heavy downpours and the chance of some thunder.

It is thought up to 25mm of rain could fall within an hour and up to 40mm in the space of three to four hours.

That amount of rain could lead to some flooding, especially in urban areas.

Areas including Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells are likely to be affected along with Gravesend, Dartford and the Isle of Sheppey.

The thunderstorms will be slow moving because of light winds but are likely to clear during the night.

A further yellow alert has been issued for a nine hour spell on Monday from midday with scattered heavy thundery showers expected to develop across the whole county.

The slow moving downpours could once again lead to some flooding and travel disruption.
