Kent weather: Met Office weather warning for heavy rain and storms
05:00, 06 July 2017
A weather warning remains in place for heavy rain and storms in Kent and Medway later today.
The Met Office says isolated thunderstorms are "likely" to develop across the country sometime this morning - but the worst conditions will miss many places.
Where they do develop, forecasters say intense downpours - which could flood roads, homes and businesses - are likely.
Lightning and hail could also present a hazard.
The chief forecaster said: "Twenty to 30mm of rain may fall within an hour and perhaps 50 to 80mm in two or three hours.
"However, such totals are likely to be very localised with many places staying dry."
The yellow "be aware" warning is in place from 6am today until 2am on Friday.
