Welling manager Jamie Day insists he will be taking Monday night's Kent Senior Cup tie with Gillingham seriously.

Day will use his first-team squad for the game against Gills, who are expected to field a weakened side due to an injury crisis at Priestfield.

"We're not going to play any younger lads," said Day, pictured. "The boys that need 90 minutes in the first team squad will start, and we will then complete the rest of the side with first-team players.

"It will give me chance to look at the likes of Tamer Tuna and Ben Davisson while we've also got a keeper we want to look at for one game."

Day could also start given his lack of gametime recently, although he did complete 90 minutes and score during Saturday's 3-2 home win over Dorchester.

Reflecting on the win, which was dominated by an awful refereeing performance from Gary Jerden, Day said: "After the first penalty, a few of us lost our focus and got caught up with the referee, and sometimes that is going to happen.

"We need to work on that and stay a bit more composed. The first penalty was a joke as Loui Fazakerley has won the ball - but the second one we didn't defend well from the throw-in.

"A fair reflection would have been 3-0 but they are our bogey team, we knew it was going to be physical and I would have taken a scrappy win."
