A SERIOUSLY injured woman was airlifted to hospital after a two-car collision in the county.

The crash happened at the junction of Four Elms Hill as it meets the Wainscott Bypass at around 3.35pm yesterday.

Three other people were also injured in the crash, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The woman, who police say is in her 30s, is in intensive care at Medway Maritime Hospital, in a critical but stable condition.

"We would like to thank an off-duty nurse, firefighter and police officer who stopped immediately after the crash to help.

"Traffic in the area was affected for several hours while officers dealt with the crash scene. They did their best to keep the traffic moving and the road was re-opened at 6.40pm."
