Families in Kent are being urged to wrap up warm and look out for vulnerable people as another round of snow makes its way to the county.

Temperatures are expected to plummet over the next few days, causing the Met Office to issue a level two weather warning for the county.

Across the weekend there is an 80% chance of severe cold weather and icy conditions but it will remain dry until Sunday, when the snow is likely to begin.

Kent County Council has asked people to keep an eye out on the elderly, young children and vulnerable people in their area.

Peter Oakford, KCC Cabinet Member for Public Health, said: “We appreciate that most people will be able to look after themselves but some members of the community need help.

“Basic advice can help everyone prepare, such as being ready to stay indoors, making sure there is enough food and medicine at home and ordering repeat prescriptions in plenty of time.

“Having a family member, friend or neighbour who can help out can be vital in cold weather – helping with anything from putting the bin out to collecting a prescription or doing some grocery shopping.

“Please be a good neighbour and rally round, take time to care for yourself, your family and others.”
