Sheffield United 2 Charlton 0

Charlton missed out on a place in the FA Cup semi-finals after a 2-0 defeat at League 1 Sheffield United on Sunday.
Boss Chris Powell said the result was his biggest disappointment in management as the Addicks missed out on a Wembley clash against Hull City and the chance to reach the final for the first time since 1947.
Both sides looked nervous in a first half of few chances but Charlton should have taken the lead on the hour when Marcus Tudgay lifted the ball over keeper Mark Howard but the stretching Callum Harriott sent a half-volley wide of the open goal.
Five minutes later, the Blades went in front as Ryan Flynn got on the end of Jose Baxter’s cross.
And it was game over seconds after the restart, with Jamie Murphy setting up John Brayford whose shot hit ex-Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood and left Hamer helpless.
Addicks boss Powell said: “I’ve felt better in my career. In fact, this is probably the biggest disappointment I’ve had as a manager but credit to Sheffield United.
“They have grasped their opportunity and have been the cup team of the season so far. Maybe this is their time.”
In a further blow, Charlton’s FA Cup commitments saw them drop to the foot of the Championship table on Saturday.
