Coventry 2 Gillingham 2
PATRICK AGYEMANG struck two late second half goals to pull the Gills back from what seemed like certain defeat.
Having gone two goals down Gills were facing a major uphill struggle to get back into the match.
Darren Byfield proved to be the architect of the comeback as he set up Agyemang with two perfectly weighted balls to Agyemang in the 65th and 77th minute.
Things had looked bleak for Gills early on after they let in an early goal as Andy Morrell struck a powerful shot which squirmed under Steve Banks into the net.
A second goal came minutes into the second as debut man Stern John struck from the spot after Nicky Southall was controversially adjudged to have tripped Steve Staunton in the area.
Gillingham: Banks, Hills, Smith, Cox, Southall, Agyemang, Hope, Roberts (Crofts), Byfield (Sidebe), Spiller, Perpetuini. Subs not used: Brown (gk), L Johnson, Rose.
Attendance: 11966
