Adebayo Akinfenwa looking forward to working with Gills manager Martin Allen and the club's youngsters

Adebayo Akinfenwa has a reputation as a big targetman but believes he can develop his game under Gillingham boss Martin Allen and help the club’s younger players.
He faces competition for a place in the side and likes the look of Gills’ other strikers.
Akinfenwa said: “The day you think you can’t learn any more is the day you have to hang up your boots.
“I can learn from the gaffer and I think I’m the second oldest here, so I’ve got some youngsters here and I hope they can learn from me also.
“Every training day is a learning day for me under the gaffer. Me and Keds (Danny Kedwell) have come up against each other for years and I’m an admirer.
“Also, Birchy (Adam Birchall) is one of the best finishers. Young Antonio German is full of promise and I hear we’re trying to bring in another.
“It’s a squad game here. I don’t think just two strikers are going to be needed. All four strikers, or whoever the gaffer thinks he needs to bring in, will be needed.
“I know what I can bring to the team and as long as I’m putting in my performances and helping the youngsters as well, I’ll be happy.”
