All set for power battle at Lydden

HUMAN power and horse power will be on show at the Lydden circuit near Canterbury on Sunday. Cycle racing will feature as well as a nine-race motorsports programme, and there will also be a display of classic cars, custom cars, face painting and children’s go-karts.
The series of cycle races put on by the VC Dealopen the event, followed by parade laps from the classic and custom cars.
When the real racing starts, Ashford driver Craig Dawson in a Peugeot 205 is a likely challenger in the Intermediate Saloon and Sports Car race, although Canterbury driver Nigel Craig’ Escort RS2000 will challenge.
The South East Sports and saloon Car Challenge will see the Porsche 911 of Peter Hillocks mixing it with the specialist Radical sport racing cars driven By Charles DeGarston (Tunbridge Wells), Neil Huggins and Julian Dodd.
Gates open at 8.30am with the cycle racing at 9am, display laps by the classic and custom cars at noon and car practice and race starts at 12.30pm. Adult admission is £6.00 while accompanied children under 14 are admitted free and there is no charge for parking or admission to the competitors paddock.
