Kent batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond says he hopes his maiden first class century is just the start for him at the club.

The 19-year-old used the club’s final warm-up game before this week’s LV= Championship Division 2 opener at Leicester as the stage for a fine innings of 102 not out and revealed his confidence was high.

He said: “I was happy. To score my first first-class century was a dream come true.

“My confidence is as high as it could be. I am feeling good. Hopefully, that is just the start for me, I want it to be the beginning of something. I want to keep looking ahead positively.

The former England under-19 star (pictured) added: “The reaction and support of friends and family and the fans has been fantastic and I’m grateful for it. I want to keep producing the goods, not just for me but for all the people who have supported me.”

Bell-Drummond narrowly missed out on a place in the squad for Wednesday's opener at Grace Road as Kent reshuffled their bowling options due to injury which was expected to limit the bowling of all-rounder Darren Stevens.

New all-rounder arrival Calum Haggett, a former schoolmate of Bell-Drummond, was included in the side which posted 406 in the first innings.

Bell-Drummond was included in the 2nds' side which joined-forces with Northamptonshire to take on Warwickshire at the St Lawrence Ground but went for 36 in the opening innings.

Meanwhile Kent duo Tammy Beaumont and Alice Davidson-Richards have been named in the MCC Women’s Young Cricketers squad for the 2013 season.

Natasha Farrant took 4-16 and skipper Lydia Greenway hit 44 as Kent beat newly-promoted Warwickshire by three wickets in their opening championship game of the season on Sunday.

Kent's AGM will take place at the St Lawrence Ground on Monday, starting at 7pm.
