NEIL HARRIS has become Gillingham manager Neale Cooper’s latest recruit after joining on a season long loan.

The striker signed immediately after Gills’ defeat against his current club Nottingham Forest and he joins with a view to earning a permanent deal at Priestfield.

Harris, 28, spent seven years at Millwall where he scored 98 goals and made an FA cup final appearance in 2004.

A further strike during a brief loan stint at Cardiff leaves the striker just one goal away from reaching the hundred mark, something he hopes to achieve in Gills’ colours.

He said: "Hopefully I’ll reach the magic number as soon as possible. Scoring goals is the best feeling in the world. That is what I’ve come here for.

"I like to think I’m a natural goal-scorer. I’ll always give 100 per cent, I enjoy playing football and want to play regularly. Hopefully then the goals will fly in."

Harris began his career at Cambridge City before moving to The Den in March 1998 for £30,000.

A loan move to Cardiff was followed by a permanent move to Forest in December last year but he only made a handful of appearances.
