Coventry v - Gillingham
19:16, 15 September 2004
Gills aim to bounce back from Saturday’s woeful performance against Sunderland tonight as they visit Coventry City.
Both sides will be hoping to shake of heavy defeats, with Leeds stuffing the Sky Blues 3-0 at the weekend, and a top half place is on offer to either side should they take maximum points.
Gills make three changes to the side that suffered at the hands of Sunderland, with Nicky Southall making his first start in a depleted defence, while Matt Jarvis misses out at the expense of recalled Patrick Agyemang.
Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler drops himself from the squad for the league match with David Perpetuini taking his place on the left side of midfield.
Coventry include new signing Stern John up-front, while Tim Sherwood starts in midfield after shaking of a minor injury.
Gills: Banks, Hills, Smith, Cox, Southall, Agyemang, Hope, Roberts, Byfield, Spiller, Perpetuini. Subs: Brown (gk), L Johnson, Rose, Crofts, Sidibe.
Coventry: Steele, Whing, Staunton, Hughes, Barrett, Morrell, Sherwood, Doyle, Shaw, Leacock, John. Subs: Shearer (gk), Gudjonsson, Suffo, Johnson, Giddings.
Referee: Mike Pike
