Cumbers joins Dons for rest of season
10:36, 01 April 2008
Gillingham striker Luis Cumbers is expected to return to AFC Wimbledon’s side this weekend and stay for the remainder of the season.
Cumbers had found himself down the pecking-order following the arrival of Donovan Simmonds and Georges Ba at Priestfield.
He had previously been with the Ryman League, Premier Division side but was recently re-called by manager Mark Stimson as cover up front.
AFC manager Terry Brown said: “Mark (Stimson) has managed to sign two forwards to help Gillingham’s fight to stay in Division 1. This enables Luis to come back to help in our bid to gain promotion this season.
“We look forward to welcoming Luis back on Saturday.”
Cumbers has yet to sign professional terms with Gillingham and so joins Wimbledon on a work-experience deal so can be recalled at any time.
