DARTS fans all over Sheppey will be rooting for Jeff Harkup and Paul McDine as the Island pair take on all-comers at the All England Darts Finals in Stoke on Saturday.
Kent Champions Harkup, of Victoria Street, Sheerness, and McDine of First Avenue, Rushenden, will be competing in the Gold Cup Pairs.
Both play their darts at the Flying Dutchman in Queenborough but got through to the finals playing for Sheppey. Harkup said: "You have to be super-league players and above to be eligible to enter. The finals will be a straight knockout competition, best of seven legs playing 601.
"The best 52 pairs in the country will be there but the names that stand out are Colin Monk and Andy Jenkins, who are both professional players who have played the circuit.
"But if we play to our potential we have a chance of winning and are confident of doing well and springing a surprise."
A full and report and pictures of the event will appear in next Thursday's Sheerness Times Guardian.
