CHARLTON have swooped to sign Liverpool defender Djimi Traore and Newcastle midfielder Amdy Faye in a double deal worth £4m.
The agreements for the players, who can boast European experience with Liverpool and Newcastle United respectively, were concluded on Tuesday evening when they both signed three-year deals.
Addicks head coach Iain Dowie insisted that his recruitment drive is not over yet.
"We’re delighted to have made two quality signings, and they will both improve our first-team squad," said Dowie. "We’re also working very hard on several other signings and we hope to be able to make further announcements soon."
Faye cost the Magpies £2m when former manager Graeme Souness signed him from Portsmouth in January last year.
When Glenn Roeder succeeded Souness, Faye found himself out of favour having made 45 Premiership appearances for the club.
He enjoyed his best spell at Portsmouth, playing in front of the back four.
Traore, 26, has spent the last seven seasons at Anfield having cost the club £550,000 from French club Laval in February, 1999.
He was a member of the Liverpool side that won the European Cup two seasons ago but has found himself down the pecking order following the arrival of Fabio Aurelio from Valencia.
