INVICTA Dynamos’ future remains unclear today, following a meeting with rink owners Starburst. The club have put together their own package in an attempt to win the ice hockey franchise at the Gillingham Ice Bowl.
But they are going head-to-head with five other interested parties all bidding to get the nod from Starburst. Club directors Sean Clement and Jackie Mason met with Starburst representatives in Medway this morning.
Mrs Mason said: “Discussions are on-going. We don't know much about the others in the running and will have to wait at least a few more weeks for a final decision.” The franchise is owned by Dave Hodge who took it off the Medway Bears five years ago and has rented ice time to the Mos for the past two seasons.
To ensure they can defend their English National Premier League and play-offs titles next season, the double winners want to take control of their own destiny. If they fail and Mr Hodge is once again successful, it is believed he will continue to deal with the Dynamos.
If it goes to one of the other four bidders then the future of the Dynamos could be in doubt. The worry is that the new owners would harbour ambitions to run a new side, which would leave the Dynamos homeless and unable to continue.
