Two goals in as many minutes during the second half secured a comfortable pre-season victory for Gillingham at Bromley on Tuesday night.
Danny Kedwell broke the deadlock from the penalty spot on 70 minutes, with fellow half-time substitute Brennan Dickenson on target soon after.
Summer signing Luke Norris showed early promise with his pace and power in attack, while Amine Linganzi looked the part when given time to play his passes, with Gills dominating their Conference South opponents.
Devante McKain made room for a 20-yard strike that was well tipped over by Seb Brown as Gills enjoyed plenty of early possession.
Trialist Josh Stanford was out to impress on the left wing and was involved in a neat move midway through the half, combining with Norris, whose low shot was held after exchanging passes with Gary Borrowdale on the edge of the box.
Former Gills striker Adam Birchall was the only man to work Stuart Nelson, his strike from outside the box comfortably saved by his old team-mate on the half-hour.
Bradley Dack grew into the game as the half wore on, coming infield from the right, and sending a low effort wide from outside the box after a strong run.
The first half was ended two minutes early when Bromley right-back Sam Long screamed in agony holding his leg following an innocuous challenge involving Stanford.
Gillingham changed all 11 players for the second half which looked set to follow the same pattern as the first.
Bromley, though, should have gone in front on the hour when Pierre Joseph-Dubois pounced on a loose pass only to drag his effort wide when through on goal.
It triggered a decent little spell from the hosts as the pace of the game increased but Gills soon got their foot on the ball, with Dickenson bending a decent effort wide on the turn from Doug Loft's pass.
Kedwell was brought down for the spot-kick that gave Gills the lead after running on to Matt Fish's clever ball and cutting inside. He got up to send keeper Brown the wrong way.
Gills doubled their lead on 72 minutes with the bright Dickenson arriving in the box from the left wing to finish Jermaine McGlashan's low cut-back.
Gillingham (first half): Nelson, Hare, Borrowdale, McKain, Barrett, Egan, Dack, Linganzi, Norris, German, Stanford. Second half: Morris, Fish, Martin, Hessenthaler, Davis, Legge, McGlashan, Loft, Kedwell, McDonald, Dickenson.
