Morecambe 2 Margate 1
MARGATE surrendered their unbeaten away record in the Nationwide Conference when they were beaten at Morecambe's Christie Park. The Gate were undone by two goals in as many minutes midway through the second half from Robbie Talbot and Adriano Rigogliosoto.
But they might well have salvaged a point after a stirring late rally. Jay Saunders raised hopes with a 75th minute header but the same player then missed a glorious chance to equalise inthe final seconds.
Margate secretary Ken Tomlinson said the result once again illustrated the fine line between success and failure in the Conference. He said: "It was an entertaining game, and I thought we probably created the better chances, but they made better use of theirs. For the first 20 minutes we were looking comfortable. Then we had a couple of bad minutes and we were always chaisng the game after that."
