Margate 0 Barnet 1
MARGATE slipped to their second defeat of the season in the Nationwide Conference when they went down by a single goal home to Barnet before a crowd of 1,753 at Hartsdown. The decisive goal came in the 17th minute when Barnet midfielder John Doolan curled a sweet right-foot shot into home keeper Charlie Mitten's s top left-hand corner.
Barnet were the better side before the break but Margate dominated the second period despite losing keeper Charlie Mitten (torn thigh muscle) and defender Dean Yorath (damaged ankle ligaments) after 52 minutes.
Six minutes later Jay Saunders almost equalised when his curling effort hit the upright and in injury time skipper Graham Porter missed a glorious chance when he volleyed over from eight yards out.
Barnet also finished the match without their keeper. Lee Harrison limped off with a groin injury to be replaced by Danny Naisbitt with just 90 seconds remaining.
